Emma Lewis - Nanny Ogg
Emma Lewis has been an accidental participant in Oxford drama ever since she
let slip to a member of OULES (Oxford University
Drinkers-with-an-Acting-Problem) that she quite liked Monty Python, actually.
She's performed in everything from cabarets to chapel choirs, cassocks to
corsets, and keeps getting inexplicably typecast as a pantomime villain -
despite the fact that her wardrobe is more suited to outfitting a dame. People
frequently accuse Emma of being a thespian, but she maintains that she doesn't
even know where Thespia is.
Anna Caughey - Granny Weatherwax
She's sharp, sulky, cunning, a natural and shameless cheat with a huge ego.
No, Anna Andrews Caughey has nothing in common with her character... nothing at
all... Hailing from the Last Continent, Anna has acted in student theatre
productions with Melbourne University and the infamous Subject to Change Theatre
Company, and appeared as a extra in the, erm, 'diabolical' Hollywood film
Queen of the Damned. This is her first appearance on the Oxford stage.
Claire Stevenson - Magrat Garlick
Claire Stevenson grew up in Belfast but is still not dead. This is her first time on stage since a 1990 nativity in which she played Bethlehem. She describes herself as a reformed goth, lapsed wiccan and veteran barmaid: 'I am embarassingly like Magrat in more ways than I am aware of.' She plays a musical instrument but refuses to tell us which one.
Katie Morris - The Duchess
Katie is a first year E&M student at St Hilda's whose hobbies include drama and
quizzing. Katie made her Oxford debut in Cuppers during Michelmas and since
then has appeared in the chorus of Fuente Ovejuna at the Playhouse last term as
well as playing the role of French girl Emilie in the Hilda's production of
Roxie Goes To Oxford. Katie is slightly worried by how much fun she having
being evil in Wyrd Sisters!
Tom Meltzer - Narrator
Tom Meltzer has been described as an enigma wrapped in a mystery wrapped in
thick milk chocolate and garnished with caramel and chocolate sprinkles. This
description is almost entirely false. He is in fact a nice chap with silly
hair who is supposed to be studying PPE at Oriel but is instead asleep. This
is his third acting role since his arrival in Oxford, coming as it does after
his second and before his fourth. He likes your tie.
Rob Morgan - The Duke
Rob is a first year studying English at St. Annes. You might have seen him in A
Clockwork Orange, The Jew of Malta or been annoyed by his voice in The Virgin Student. He is supposedly globetrotting this summer but unlike last year he has
to organise it himself, so it will probably not happen. He can usually be found
zombified and with a book in either pocket.
Rhys Jones - The Fool
Rhys is a first year physics student at St. John's college. When he isn't
doing physics, he is happy, and often found in a rehearsal for something or
editing bits of footage for the college tv show. He also likes drinking
(being a 'big Welsh teddybear') and generally hanging round with friends and
playing pool, badly.
Rob Hemmens - Hwel/Seargant/Peasant/Demon
Heid Jerstad - Soldier 2
Born in London, after growing up among daffodils in a Victorian walled garden
near Silchester, Heid moved to Norway at the age of 11. Since then she has
been thoroughly indoctrinated in the ways of the Norwegians, their trees, snow
and especially their independence from the United States of Europe. When
spending the weekend in an army tent in a park in Oslo, queuing for LOTR
tickets, she met a swordswinging ballet dancer which led to initiation in the
ways of early medieval fighting. She spent 6 months in Moscow as part of her
last year at school and is now studying anthropology and archaeology.
Tzveta Pokrovska - Fake Witch
Kate Rundell - Robber/Guard/Fake Witch
Kate has been vaguely thespy for as long as she can remember, playing roles
like Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire at school, and taking LAMDA medals
outside of it. Last term she pranced around wearing a tiara and eating biscuits
with OULES, but, apart from St Catherine's College Cuppers, this will be her
first attempt at "serious" (well...) drama in Oxford.
Jennifer Hill - Fake Witch
Jenni is 19, and currently training for Summer Eights and revising for her
English mods this term. She lives behind a keyboard in St. Hugh's and says she
doesn't want to get a life, because it feels as though she's trying to lead
three already.
James Reid - Vitoller
Well hello there... as a wee south east London boy (big up de Lewisham Massif),
I grew up... as you do. It was a lot of fun, and I'm planning on continuing in
that line of work for a while. I am also quite keen on acting. I always took
part in school plays, and have done some work with the National Youth Theatre.
I am looking forward to continuing this all in Oxford.
David Allen - Tomjohn and Verence
It is indeed an rare thing to see David on this side of the curtain in a show.
Usually he can be seen waving his arms in front of pit orchestras, or playing
some sort of instrument with a music theatre band, as up until now his work in
Oxford theatre has comprised almost entirely of musically directing shows
(Assassins (OFS), Top Gun (BT), Into the Woods (Playhouse)) or performing in
their bands (Hair (Edinburgh), Iolanthe (OFS), Oh What A Lovely War
(Hertford)). Once upon a time he was even persuaded to write the entire
musical score for a sixth form play, and this sent him so crazy that he did it
again last term with Fuente Ovejuna (Playhouse). On the odd occasion that you
cannot find him in a theatre or in rehearsals, David is probably out on the
river somewhere, or organ scholaring; or maybe, just maybe, doing some work
towards his music degree...
Christopher Pannell - Robber/Guard/Soldier
Chris is a 2nd year english student at LMH. This is his first time on stage,
and where better to start than with the Discworld? When he's not pretending
to understand Middle English poetry, Chris enjoys film, indie music, going
out, and most recently even rowing. Ideally, he wishes to remain a student
forever, as the real world seems far too much like hard work.
Jacob Lloyd - Guard/Chamberlain/Soldier
A first year English student at Jesus College, this is Jacob's first play at
Oxford, though he was famous at school for his starring roles in school plays,
such as the Servant in Romeo & Juliet and, most recently as Shopper 2 in A
Christmas Carol. A big Discworld fan, Jacob was recently called a philistine
by a friend for claiming "Terry Pratchett is better than Beowulf."
